Know the Limits in Slots Games

Canadian gamblers should always take the time to learn the rules of slots before they sit down to play any machine of any sort. This way, they will better understand how wins are generated and be more inclined to have fun along the way. Slots are by far the most popular games in any casino because they don't take much strategy or thought, and they certainly don't take much in the way of money, either, since players can enjoy the game for as little as $0.01 per spin. Of course, the first step in the process is selecting the game to play. There are classic three-reel games, five-reel video games with paylines that can reach into the thousands, progressive jackpot machines that provide chances to win millions, and even interactive options that allow the player to assume a role throughout his or her gaming session.

The first of the online slot rules that players should keep in mind is choosing the amount that will be wagered per spin. While this may be limited in the case of classic variations, most video options allow players to choose from a wide range of options. First, the player must determine the denomination of the coin he or she wants to wager, whether it is a $0.01 or a $5 coin. Next, the player must choose the number of paylines upon which he or she wants to wager. Players can bet on only one or they can bet on every line in the game, sometimes into the thousands. Then, they must select the number of coins to wager per payline. Finally, it is important to remember that there is usually a maximum that can be wagered per spin and the machine will automatically sort this out among all of the paylines.

The next step in the rules of slots is learning to actually play the game. Once the player has selected a wager, he or she will need to pull the lever or touch the 'Spin' icon on the screen in a land based casino or click 'Spin' if playing in an online casino. This will set the reels in motion, and they will inevitably come to a stop on their own. The machine itself will figure up the amount the player spent on that spin, multiply winnings by that number of coins, and issue these winnings instantaneously via an update on the playing screen.

Before considering any of the other rules of slots, players should be sure to understand the pay scale for any machine they choose. The pay scale can usually be accessed under the Help menu, but some machines will have a separate Pay Table option that can be clicked or touched to bring up this information. Here, players will find the various symbols on the machine and the payouts associated with lining up two, three or more on active paylines. It is also important to note that scatter symbols need only to appear on the screen in order to benefit the player; these do not have to be on active paylines.
